Breed It Like Beckham?

So as the days are getting closer and closer, we are getting more anxious to meet the little guy. I keep wondering, as he slithers and squirms inside of me, who is he going to look like?

Now, some people can simply say, "50% Mom and 50% Dad." But us? Well, I will let the pictures tell the story. We look absolutely NOTHING alike. Our child will either be just like X, just like me, or an odd combination.

Take a look at these photos:

Emily at Birth (I could be an Asian baby!)

X at Birth (bald and with the chubbiest cheeks ever!)

Emily...chunky and with black eyes (okay, I know black maybe isn't correct)

X with the brightest green eyes ever

Emily with DARK hair and eyes (sweet velcro shoes)

X with the WHITEST hair ever (and shorts on backwards). So cute!

Emily (taking my dancing career very seriously!)

X (having fun at play!)

Me (with my mom pretending to have a photo shoot!)
X's school picture

So now you have it. I have a round face with dark, almost black features. And X has a slender face with the whitest hair and the greenest eyes. So what's it going to be?

For all those out there who fall back on the "dark is dominant," I share this photo with you. The Beckham genes are strong, my friends. The brothers all look alike and their kids so far all look alike, despite the fact that they come from three different moms. Do I have a fighting chance to have a child that looks like me? Only time will tell. What do you think?

I must give proper credit where it's due. I can't take credit for the title. I give it all to Claire Nese (remember that?)

Oh my goodness, Em, you had the same perfect lips at birth, that is too cute! And that tree swing in your old backyard is one of my favorite memories of being a little girl. Remember we used to swing on it and eat boysenberries and Chris would push us on the swing? haha!

So, you and X do have quite different features. I'm rooting for a good blend of the two - light brown hair or sandy blond with hazel eyes, chubby cheeks, I'm not sure about the nose but if he gets either one he'll be handsome. It will be very interesting to see if the dark or the light genes prevail. Probably you'll have some kids that are dark featured like you and some toe-heads like X :)

I am excited to find out what your baby looks like. Maybe dark hair with green eyes - that's a great combination. However, I'm sure no matter what his coloring is, he'll be beautiful.

Awesome post! Dan and I don't have as dramatic feature as you and X, but I feel we each got our little me's. Michael looks like Dan with his white hair and blue eyes, and Chelsea like me, brown hair, brown eyes. Can't wait to see the little Beckham!

Cute pics! I am going to say that a blend is likely. Mike and I are quite different, but somehow our boys look so much alike. It is funny because Mike's family thinks our boys look like me and my family thinks they look like Mike.

By the way, you look great!!!!

Anything can happen. My sister is in the same boat you are. She's blonde hair green eyed and he's brown hair brown eyed and they have two of each. They all kind of have their own unique look. It'll be fun to see what you get!

I think he'll be a little Xemilo. JK

I love the pictures. It would have taken me years to do a post like that. Rounding up all those old pictures. He is going to be perfect, no matter whose traits he comes out with.

Wow, those baby pictures really threw me off- you're dressed in blue, and he's in a pink blanket! But I knew the picture of you couldn't really be X. Anyway, you're right, those blonde genes seem to be really dominant! I love that picture of X and all his brothers. Me & Troy had the same guessing game as you- we look absolutey opposite. I was so afraid for our children! Thankfully, we think they turned out pretty cute. Reese is a blondie like I was, and Paisley we think will be darker like Troy. Anyway, it's so fun to see what will happen. We can't wait to find out with you!!!

I have to agree with everyone else. No matter WHO Baby Beckham looks like, he'll be adorable! Once you see him, you'll feel like you've known him forever. And my guess is that whatever this little guy looks like, they'll all look like him...just keep your fingers crossed and maybe you'll get a little Em one day. : ) All mamas need one. If not, you'll definitely see yourself in them whether it's their smile or their attitude. That's how I know Erin is mine. ha Good luck on the whole bed rest thing. I know it's gotta get old.

I LOVE all the pictures. Either way it'll be one handsome baby! My favorite picture is the dance recital one. Beautiful! It'll be interesting to see who he looks like, oh the combinations. :)

I LOVED THE PICTURES OF THIS POST!!! It just made my day to see X as a cute little boy. How did you get all those old photos? That baby picture of his, it is so hilarious to see him with such enormous cheeks! Hahahaha, the fattest he's ever been. And what's with the pink blanket?? His white hair - in that picture it looks like it's glowing! Oooooh, stop, my cheeks hurt! The one of his brothers was cool too, wow, do they all look the same! It took me a few minutes to figure out which one was X. (He's the one on the far right, right?) It's cool to have met his parents; to me the boys look just like Sheryle (sp?), not much Colin. This was so awesome, the pics were a big treat. Who knows what Mr. G will look like!

Holy Cow! Those are some stinkin' cute pictures and makes me so excited to see what will come of it all. Probably only the most beautiful baby Beckham ever. Yep, that's what you've got wigglin' inside ya.
