Beckham Update

This will be one long post...I apologize in advance to your eyes!

Well, this spring has started just like the others...with crazy storms and tornadoes! Last night we had the strongest storm yet! I was laying in bed listening to it intensify and suddenly it sounded like a big old dump truck was driving right outside our bedroom window. 10 seconds later the tornado siren went off. So I woke X up (yes, he was asleep!) and we scrambled into the bathtub after we watched the radar report show rotation right over our house on the map. Um, scary?!

Fortunately, we didn't get any damage. Our biggest thing was the umbrella to our outdoor table set was on our roof stuck behind the chimney! But X being the non-blogger that he is, didn't think to take a picture before he took it done (at 6:00 am!).

Some of our neighbors weren't so lucky. Only tornadic winds can do the strange things that they do, like destroy one neighbor's home and leave the next house perfectly fine. Fortunately most of the damage was minor overall.
This two-story house in our neighborhood had just been framed out and this morning it resembled a pile of matchsticks! Sad! There were fences and shingles down everywhere and you had to dodge them on the road. Check out this trampoline on some one's roof in another neighborhood! A little hobby airport about a mile from here had their hangers completely destroyed and I saw the metal strewn across the road in crumpled little pieces.

Just another reminder that Mother Nature is quite powerful. But we are very thankful that we are okay and that others only had minor damage. Nothing that we can't fix!

In other news, Craig's List deserves the shout out of a lifetime. We decided it was finally time to trade in the old faithful Corolla for a more mom-friendly car. We decided to try our luck at selling on Craig's List. Within 45 minutes of posting, I had ten emails from interested buyers. Within 2 hours, the car was gone and we had cash in hand! For real, it doesn't get better than that!

Does anyone else attach human feelings to objects like cars? As it drove away, I had the fleeting thought, "Oh, the Corolla is going to be sad. It's going to wonder why I abandoned her. I hope the new person takes care of her." Um, cars don't think and they don't feel, but I couldn't help but be a little bit sad. She was a good car. You couldn't ask for a better first car (and no, I'm not counting that awful Ford Probe as my first car at all, for those of you who remember!)

But I am really enjoying being in a bigger car and not sitting so low to the ground! We decided to get the Nissan Rogue, which we have really enjoyed. And no, we didn't drive our car to this fancy bridge at nighttime in downtown Dallas; it's a stock photo as you guessed.

I am 32 weeks already! Wow Nelly!
We are fast approaching the birth of the little guy and we can hardly believe it! We are both very excited and nervous at the same time. I'll have to take a "progress" photo tomorrow, as X is busy working in the nursery right now and a self-portrait would not be cute! My stomach just keeps expanding straight out in front of me and can definitely no longer be considered a basketball. We are talking about a watermelon now!
