Six Things About Me:1. I love to READ! I think most people know this already, but I really do like to read. Even when I was little I used to stay up late reading "The Saddle Club" series. Janette used to wake up at 3 am when we were roommates and get all annoyed because I still had the light on so that I could see the pages! I am a member of 2 book clubs and I love it. I fall victim to "low-brow," common series like Harry Potter and Twilight (and proud of it!) But I also love classics like Jane Eyre and The Counte of Monte Cristo. I think reading should be for fun and learning; it doesn't have to be all serious and studious to justify the reading of it! p.s. I'm so proud of you Janette! Staying up until 3 am to finish Eclipse!
2. I love to BAKE! I love to cook too, but I think I'm a better baker. I don't always follow the recipe. I probably don't more than I do. Sometimes it turns out okay, other times it doesn't. But I love to bake something that's appropriate for the season. It makes me happy to give it away too. I love to take a recipe...any kind...and make it X-friendly: meaning my health-conscience husband will eat it. It's fun to substitute things for the fatty ingredients and have it still be good.
3. I love CHEESE! I love all kinds of cheeses. I love cheese quesadillas, macaroni-n-cheese, cheese and crackers, you name it! One of my favorites is a really good, hard white cheese like Parmesan or Gruyere.
When we were in Bath, England this summer there was a refrigerated store devoted completely to European cheeses. I was in awe. My other favorite is a white, salty, crumbly, wet cheese that we ate with every meal in Guadalajara (remember that Bri?!). I can find it here in the Spanish grocery stores. There are a lot of imitations at Wal-Mart and Albertsons, but to get the real stuff, you need to visit a Spanish Market. Ah, I want some cheese now.4. I love to MOUNTAIN BIKE. I just started it and I'm not good or anything. X has been going for a couple of years and I decided I needed to get a new bike (my last one was a Huffy with pink and white paint splatters on the frame! Cool!). There's a park about 15 minutes away with some really fun bike trails and we've had a good time riding together. I've started going down the steep hills, popping wheelies over roots, and dodging between trees. Like I said, I'm not very good; the blue and green bruises all over my legs will attest to that as I've hit many a tree! And it's really good exercise!
5. Speaking of EXERCISING, I love to do it. I started when I was about 14 doing Denise Austen aerobic tapes in our game room. I love to do kick-boxing, running, biking, yoga, weightlifting, and lawn-mowing. Yes, you read right. I am including lawn-mowing. I got a heart rate monitor for my birthday and now I LOVE to find activities that burn tons of calories. The two things that have maxed me out and burned the most: mountain biking (on a trail - not stationary) 650 calories an hour & lawn-mowing (750 calories an hour). My goal has always been to run a marathon, but sadly, I don't think it'll happen. I have sacro-iliac back issues that don't allow me to run more than 3 miles or kick-box anymore.
6. Sometimes I wish that women still wore hoop skirts and big frilly DRESSES. I know I'm completely labelling myself hopelessly "a girl," but it's true, and why try to fight it? I think I can leave the corsets out though. And I don't want to live in the olden days without modern conveniences. I just wish that we wore dresses and bonnets and silky ribbons in these days!

Love it! I love you Em! We're close enough to read minds (I know you just thought about Edward), and I can still enjoy hearing about you, and I still learn new things. I never knew you liked lace and hoop skirts so much! lol. Love you!
Cute Em! I love the picture of you leaping up into the air. You are such a goof ball. I don't know why I just remembered this, but I have this really funny picture of you, me, and Lisa sitting on a bed when we were in Nauvoo and we were acting out that skit from Saturday Night Live where when she gets nervous she puts her hands in her arm pits and then sniffs them? Do you remember that? Anyway, completely random.
This was so fun to read, Em! It's cute to see your personality wrapped up so concisely. And I didn't know you loved frilly dressed and silk ribbons, either! I remember having to write an essay in middle school about who we would be if we could be anyone. My essay was about the wish to be Scarlett O'Hara just to wear all those Southern belle dresses, float down grand staircases, and have dozens of hot suitors, esp Clark Gable! Ha ha!
Hey Emily... have you noticed that my blog is out of commission? I have emailed blogger support but heard nothing back. Do you have any advice on how to fix it?

PS- i loved reading your tag. i love that you want to dress up in victorian clothes. such a girl at heart! i'd be right there beside you, i love that stuff too!
This was fun to read! I knew some of the stuff, but not all of it. I'm so glad we got to see you while you were here. We thought it was really nice of you to spend some time with us because I know you had a full weekend. We just love you and X - and wished we lived closer. I'll keep working on Matt to move to Texas!
Well that was a fun treat! I think we might have to do some book swapping. I'm always looking for a recommended book. From your last personal interest I think you would like the Other Boleyn girl - Phillipa Gregory and The Josephin B Series - Sandra Gulland. I just read these and really enjoyed them. Feel free to send me a suggestion anytime.
Okay, so no party, but you love Halloween right? so did you still dress up? come on . ..where are some pics?
I agree with Bri ... I need my fix.
