Bike Rides

The bike rides continue in... This first picture is a precursor for what is to follow further down.

Two weeks ago X participated in another 100 mile bike race. He opted out of the Hotter-than-Hell for obvious reasons and went with the Pineywoods Purgatory (which happened to be 30 minutes away from where I ran my first marathon!).

So we trekked down to Lufkin, TX, about four hours away. It is really pretty down there, with lots of tall pine trees. Overall X really liked the course, except for the crazy ups and downs. It was truly hilly. Graydon and I drove part of the course looking for him and I kept thinking about how the riders must be suffering because of the course!
About 1/2 way through our drive I couldn't find X. I started thinking that I must have passed him because I couldn't find him on the road. The groups started thinning out and I was really bummed that we missed him. We were on a little 2-lane country highway and there was no way to turn around to catch him. And then I happen upon the lead group, and there I find my machine of a husband...hanging with the lead group.

Needless to say, he was quite tired at the end of it all. The major bummer about this race is that is wasn't timed, so no way to know your ranking or anything. Oh well.

Now this race is the one that X has been looking forward to the most. The Wish 100 ride in Plano with his little buddy! This was just last weekend and they did the 10 mile portion together. Picture not complete without the pop-eye.
Below Graydon was telling me that "we're number one!"
After the race. I posted this picture so you could see their matching NZ shirts.

They had a fun kids zone there where Graydon was entertained for quite awhile. There was a booth of policeman...Graydon's day was complete! They had those googles that make you feel as if your drunk and make you walk in a straight line. Of course, X puts them on, wobbles at first and then goes heel to toe perfectly down the line. The cop there (Bianez, for those who know him), said that X did it the best he has ever seen. So my husband is the best drunk that never has been...great!

I was shocked at how my little squirmer sat perfectly still for this lady to paint a bike on his cheek.

And is this a real post-worthy picture? No. But I do exist, and I had to prove it. Why am I not in any pictures these days? Maybe because I'm 29 weeks and counting down.

Yay for the iBert! We LOVE ours. We didn't use it nearly as much this year as we should have, but Ethan should still fit in it next spring. Nice work on the races, X! That is awesome.
