Our Baby Turns 1!

How is it possible? Is he really one? May 30th came before we knew it and our little baby is now a toddler! That weekend we were at a friend's lakehouse chaperoning an overnight high school graduation party (nothing makes you feel old like being the responsible adult at a party with 45 18-year-olds!) We had a lot of fun and Graydon loved being the center of attention.

He must have known it was his day. He woke up with a smile on his face and had pancakes and strawberries for breakfast!

Then we spend lots of time on the water and playing on the grass while "chaperoning" the kids.

He loved being on the boat. He's like a dog: he loves the wind in his face. So he was giddy when the boat was going. A little mixture of fear and exhilaration! The life jacket was a bit of a nuisance. But don't worry, the picture above without the life jacket was us tethered to the dock. He was a good boy and wore it the whole time...his cheeks were battling the pads the whole time.


The party-goers made a good group of "Happy Birthday" singers.

Needless to say, he loved the cupcake! I wasn't going to give him one (we had a baby friendly cake at home), but we gave him. And he was sure happy!



We got back in the day and quickly got cleaned up for a small party with my family. Earlier in the week we had a church activity where we learned how to decorate cakes. So I made the above cake for his b-day.

He wasn't as interested in the non-sweetened cake, no wonder, huh?! He basically used the cream as body paint.

He got this cool Lightning McQueen toy from Nana and Grandpa. Here he is pushing his 2.5 year old cousin across the room. Yes, he may be small, but his a strong little package! I love how he's leaning into it.

It was a fun day! I had a little party planned, even had invitations bought. But then it turned into such a busy weekend, so we decided to hold off on a friend party until his 2nd birthday. Nevertheless, he had a fun filled weekend with TWO cake adventures on his big day.
