We *heart* Firemen!

Thursday night we went and took part in my brother's Family Night at the Collin County Fire Academy. He will be graduating in two weeks and we couldn't be prouder! This is something he has wanted to do since he was a kid! Hooray for realizing childhood dreams!
They did lots of cool things to show us what they have been learning. This burning car was pretty intense! I can't imagine how HOT they must get! They did everything very methodically and very organized.

Doesn't he look handsome? Even drenched with sweat?

We got to play around on the firetrucks! Might I add that it was like 90 degrees with a heat index of over 100 because it was SO HUMID!! Words can't describe.

Just playing...sitting on the hose!

This was cool. They demonstrated putting out a building fire. This is them getting ready to go in...Chris was at the front of the hose nozzle. They had a camera that showed heat sources as white. So we were able to watch what they did on that TV. I had never realized (or thought about it) that firemen go into burning buildings not being able to see a thing! Again...so proud!

Graydon had to get in on the action and show some love! When we first showed up and was showing Chris the shirt, he stuck his chest out and made that face like, "that's right, yep, I'm a proud nephew. Everyone check me out." He's such a buster!
He's crazy by the way. He screams at the top of his lungs these days for "fun." Thanks to Emma Wagner, he has discovered that he loves to run, yes, run, with his new walker toy. He crawls so dang fast, that I want him to walk just so that it will slow him down for a few days! He is so dang active and it wears me out, but I'm so glad to be worn out by this cute little guy.

*Thanks to my friend Rachel, I think I have learned how to keep my pictures as "enlargable," so click away...and hopefully it works. Thanks Rachel!*

I love that your brother gets to do what he always wanted to do! Firemen to me are the most amazing people and really have the kindest hearts ever. To make a career that is so selfless and that risks their own lives is so inspiring!!! Tell him thank you for us!!

Again, I know I have told you this, but I just can't get over how cute Graydon is!!! You are such a darling family!!

As another sister of a fire fighter, I understand the pride we have in their choice to serve and put their life on the line for others! They don't get enough praise or recognition for the incredibly difficult job they perform! Tell your brother good luck and stay safe!

That's awesome about your brother. I'd be proud too!!! (and what a sweet sister you are to even deck out your soon in the supportive wear). Little Graydon is still the cutest and you have a great perspective as a mama!

Yeah! I am so thankful for firemen too! Good job on the clickable pics. Glad you got it figured out.

In case you still want to learn how to post them large... here's a quick tutorial. The only thing is you have to have a plain white background. (I know there are ways to get around that, I just havent bothered to figure it out yet).
1- Change your blog template to Minima. (the first turn off for most ppl).
2- Make a copy of your photo. Never do the following to your original.
3- Open it in photoshop or paint.net or equivalent. Click on image>resize and change the resolution to 90. (usually is set at 300). Save.
4- Create a photobucket account. Upload your pic. Once uploaded, copy the HTML code. One click should copy it for you.
5- In your blogger account, go to your post and hit the HTML mode (as opposed to 'Compose'). Paste the HTML code.
6- Voila!

I'm sure there are much better and faster ways, this is just how a friend showed me. I need to learn more though, cuz she now posts them large with a nice background. Let me know if you ever learn more!

It's pretty sad that you posted this like 3 weeks ago and I'm just now reading it ... I got out of the habit of checking on you when you quit posting a long time back ... I need to keep up now that you have a kid and actually update! xoxo.

Miss you!!!
