Bullet Belly at 20 weeks

I can't believe that I'm actually posting this picture because I'm quite mortified by it. So you may ask, "then why are you posting it?" Well, because after taking over 20 pictures at 3 different times in about 5 different outfits, I have come to realize that getting a pregnancy picture that I considered "cute" was just not feasible. Plus, I don't think my photographer will continue with these hopeless photo shoots.

So here you go, for all those who requested it and for our "family journal" sake, take a quick and understanding glance at the photo. Also note, this was right before I crawled into bed at night, so be nice! I look haggard, I know.

Now, besides the fact that I look bad in the picture, let's move on to the next item of embarrassment. I have a pointy belly! The majority of pregnant bellies to me have always been beautiful and nicely rounded. Everyone once in a while I ran across a woman with the pointy belly and thought it was so strange that a belly would do that. Now I find myself a victim of it! I'm hoping that I'll find it rounding out in the weeks to come, but in the meantime, it's there. I read in one of my books that it's referred to as the "bullet-shaped" belly. Great...somehow that description doesn't make me feel any better. I also am of the opinion that I'm "carrying high." What do you think?

So any of you women out there that experienced the bullet belly, please leave a comment with me! I'd love to hear from you!

Em, you look so cute. I carried high with Katie too which ended up being a problem when it got around to the 7th month when Katie's favorite past time was pushing on my ribs and organs 24 hours a day. Not a great feeling. So much to look forward to!

Girl, from one 5'2" girl to another ... you are WAY too hard on yourself! You look gorgeous!

AND, I will sympathize with you and say that it is very unfair that the shorties of the world are still required to carry a baby through pregnancy. There are the girls who are 5'10", who I want to kill, because they're tummies are these perfect little bee sting bumps. I look back at pregnancy pictures of myself and think "how on earth did I balance myself while walking?!" I love your cute belly ... and it's not pointy! And it WILL get rounder ... that I can promise! lol.

Em, are you kidding me! you look beautiful!! i love your little growing bump and almost cried when i saw your picture! It's so awesome to see a picture of you and baby. I must say, I completely understand the frustration of taking a picture and finding one that you dare send to any other living organism :) now you know why it took me so long to send you one of me. But you really do look great, don't be so hard on yourself, you are BEAUTIFUL!!! 20 weeks, GOSH --you are half way there! I love you, miss you, and pray for you daily!

Hey...you look sooooooo cute! Honestly, you are way too hard on yourself. I just had to sing in front of my teacher and a video camera, and let me tell you, I AM NEVER EATING AGAIN!!! We had to do a side profile. Ugh! It's even ONLINE! So, you are way too cute to even begin to say you look awful. Love and miss you!

I don't think it's possible for a pregnant woman to look bad. OKay, I take that back, but you definitly fall in the way-cute-pregnant-girl category! Will we be seeing these pictures every month? (Please?!) I never took the monthly pictures, and I totaly regret it. I don't have ANY prego pictures of Michael. Ya gotta do it!

Em, you are such a cute pregnant woman! Thanks for sharing your pic. I've never noticed a bullet belly. I have seen square bellies though. Yours looks cute :) I too think you need to post a pic every month!

YOU LOOK GREAT! And I'm not just saying that. You are adorable and I think you're carrying BBB very well. I was one of those tall people that never popped out, but I always wanted to. I just looked FAT! But let me tell you, you'll be SO GLAD you have these pictures - seriously. I hated how I looked when I took my pictures but I love to look back on them now. You look beautiful and you're glowing! I am SO excited for you! It actually makes me miss being pregnant.
Okay, sorry for the novel of a comment!

I think ya'll are way too nice. I'm going to go with the "you're way too hard on yourself" for the overall theme of these comments. So I appreciate it! I know I'll love these pictures at some later date, so that's why they exist...and we'll see about the monthly pictures. It depends on how big I get!

I said, "Ethan do you want to see a picture of Emily?"
He looked and said, "She's pregnant?! I've never seen Emily pregnant before!"
(He saw Emily on Saturday)
I think this picture was the first time it really registered in Ethan's head that you are going to have a baby. And by the way, you are stunning!

Hi Emily! You look absolutely gorgeous!! Yes, you are carrying high. And yes, you are way too hard on yourself. Really I WISH I could have been as cute as you are! I only have a few pregnancy pictures (one of them being the day Erin was born- talk about BIG) and I really do wish I had been a little more forgiving of myself- belly, thighs, hips and all. Enjoy it. I've always loved the pointy bellies, maybe because it makes me wonder "is that the head or the hiney sticking out?"

Oh, one more thing, I think the monthly belly shot is an awesome idea!

Emily, I ran into your blog on the Thurgood's site. I'm so happy for you and you look amazing!!! Congrats!!!

I love your layout too! Where'd you find it?

I second Emily's comments. Both of my boys wrapped their little toes around my rib-cage and hung. I love pregnant bellies. Hang in there!

Em, You look gorgeous. I was the "large belly from front to back and around the sides" variety. A "bullet belly" would have been a blessing. Plus, trust me, in a few more weeks, you won't even notice if there is a point or not.
