Does anyone still visit this blog?

Okay, okay, I know that I've been the LAMEST in making posts. I would totally understand if you don't even check my blog anymore. I just feel like there's a lot going on that we (just X and I) have been doing that's not blog-worthy. Who wants to hear about the adventures of two adults who work full-time?
But my main reason for not posting is work! I am so overworked right now it's not even funny. Seriously, after you work all day long, then have to take your laptop home to work in the evenings and on the weekends, the fastest I can get off the computer, the better. Hence...no posts recently! Unfortunately it will be like this until the end of the year. So much for the whole "holidays are time for family and friends" stuff.

Enough with my boo-hoo story. We LOVED Thanksgiving! We just stayed here, ate at my parents house with my family, and relaxed. I've decided that Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because 1) it's all about family and friends 2) it's all about relaxing and taking it easy (except for the cooking part) and 3) it's not hyped up and exploited by media and marketing like all other holidays are now. So long story short, we had a fabulous Thanksgiving.

X had his wisdom teeth out a couple of weeks ago. I thought I would forgo the whole taking pictures thing. Just imagine X with his cheeks stuffed so full of cotton that he resembled a chipmunk. It was the first time I'd seen X on any type of drugs and it was quite hilarious. He wouldn't stop talking...and remember the whole cotton in his mouth thing? That made it twice as funny because anything he said was muffled and spitty. Too bad it only lasted a couple of hours. By the next morning he was back to his regular old self (I mean, fabulous old self) and even went to an all day seminar for work the next day. So it was quite uneventful.

We put up our lights and Christmas decorations! We were pretty excited about that since this is our first time to really decorate. In New Zealand the tradition of Christmas lights on houses doesn't exist. So when X did the lights this year, it was his VERY FIRST TIME ever! I was proud of him! Here he is humoring me as I document the activities.

Here he is contemplating how not to fall off the roof. We have a pitch in the front that our little ladder won't reach. So he figured he could just get on the roof. Well, it's deceiving because he literally was rolling off the side! I kept saying, "oh just sit down and hurry and put them up." Sitting down consisted of a continual slide down the uncomfortable shingles until he finally put an end to that game.

But could he end that game with a normal descent down the ladder? No. He had to JUMP off the roof, which had me freaked out of course. But he assured me that he would be okay because of the MacGyver roll. Supposedly every guy knows (ask your husbands) that if you jump from a high level, you inevitably have to roll into several somersaults in order to "save" yourself. Who knew? But it worked!

So to solve the problem of the high roof, we walked down the street and borrowed a massive ladder from the construction workers! I had my Spanish all worked out and what I would have to say, but they understood my English too well to necessitate the need for my now-broken Spanish.

This picture got the comment, "is this for our blog? Seriously you have to document everything we do!" So we are now enjoying lights at night and our cozy tree inside.

Oh yeah, I called 911 for the first time! Last week we had a vicious dog and his nice dog friend run into our garage as we were trying to leave. The mean dog wouldn't leave and was trying to get into our house. The hair on his back was standing up and everytime you got within 6 feet of him he'd try to attack. So...it's not like we could just leave him in our garage to ransack everything. Animal Control was of course closed, which directed you to the non-emergency police number, which was closed, which directed you to 911. I did feel bad calling them, but at the urging of our neighbors and the bleak reality that a mean dog was stuck in my garage and wouldn't let us near him, I called.

We had the coolest police woman come stay with us for an hour. She was like, "um, yeah, if this continues any longer, I'm going to have to pepper spray the dog." Now, I don't like mean dogs or anything, but that would have been really sad! Finally the Animal Control guy decided to check his messages and came and rescued us. We've been in our house only 7 months and we've now had 3 stray dogs with two visits from Animal Control and one visit from McKinney's finest. Supposedly we have some "doggie-come-hither" sign that is unseen to humans.

That's going to be all for now. I still want to do the 6 Things About My Husband, but instead of spending the time to type it right now, I'd rather spent time with that husband. So I'm rainchecking. Basing the trend off of recent history...tune in next month for another post!!

When I saw your comment on our blog I was hoping it meant you updated, I'm so happy you finally did! Although, your life doesn't sound as boring as you make it out to be. The MacGyver roll makes me laugh...guys are so funny sometimes. Are you really going to make us wait another month for an update?

The doggie-come-hither thing cracked me up! Doggie-come-hither... Ah ha ha ha ha.

I've got to come see the lights and your finished decorations in the house. Invite me over some time! (that is when you have the time, I know what it's like to hardly get to spend time with your hubby!)
