He received his green card with conditions two years ago, but we had to prove to the government just recently that we: 1) are still married 2) love each other and 3) didn't get married just so that X could stay in the United States. I hated that we needed to prove that to them. But a HUGE stack of papers, a large fee, another set of fingerprints, and 6 months later, we're done! The absolute best thing ever: we are done for the next 10 years!! After that he'll have to apply for an extension which hopefully won't be a biggie. That may not seem like a lot for those citizens who never have to worry about immigration, but since the time we were married, we've had continual paperwork, fees, and worry weighing on our shoulders. So we are so thrilled!
I love the "Welcome to the United States" pamphlet that X got, as if he hasn't been here for 6 years already! This picture of the hydrangeas are "just because." They are my favorite flower and my mom has done a fabulous job at growing a beautiful bush of them in her backyard. Thanks for the flowers mom! I can only hope to have such a green thumb!
