Any Travel Tips?

We are doing a lot in preparation of our trip: trying to pack just right, making sure we have all documentation (to make sure X gets back into the country!), buying cheap little gizmos, etc.

Since I know a lot of you have travelled, any good tips you'd like to share? We're open for any suggestions that will help things run more smoothly! Keep in mind that we are going to Belgium, France, and the UK, so area specific things would be great too! Don't want to blink too many times or something simple like that and have somebody mad at us!

So excited for you guys! I don't have a lot of travel tips. We used to live in Belgium, but I don't remember, much (I was 6 when we left). You do need to go to Mons and rub the monkey's head and see the peeing boy. Really! I'll have Matt give some tips - he knows Europe fairly well (wink, wink).

Seeing as though I've never left the US cause I'm a total loser and TERRIFIED of international terrorist activity.......I have nothing to offer EXCEPT....if you hear anything that sounds even remotely like an explosion...DUCK AND COVER!!! lol. Be safe! When do you leave?

Rachel - we are actually staying a night in Mons on our way back to Brussels, so we will definitely see the peeing boy! ha ha!

Janette - don't jinx us! We are leaving two weeks from today! May 23rd!

My only advice would be to live it up and have fun and take lots of pictures. After you start having those kiddos it gets harder to travel. You're going to have such a great time!

The only general advice I can think of right now is, you know those little pouches that you keep your passport in on your body so it's always with you? Well, I suggest getting the kind that goes around your neck, not the kind that goes around your waist. It's so inconvenient and uncomfortable that I never wore mine. I should have gotten the neckstrap one.

I've never been to the countries you guys are going to, but I know you'll have tons of fun! My mom went to Belgium and the Loire Valley in France. She loved it! She had lots of time to explore on her own while my dad was working. I'll try to get her suggestions for you :)

I agree about the neck strap passport carrier being a good choice. I went to Paris when I was living with janette. My advice, make sure you keep yummy smelling lotion on you. Whenever I get stuck by someone stinky I just sit and smell my hands so I don't hurl. Enjoy!
