Hooray for a New House! Hoorah for a Place of Our Own!

Last week Xavier and I finally decided to make the big leap: to move out of my parents house! They have most graciously let us live with them for 2 years and 3 months! That's a long time! But it's been a great 2 years and 3 months! We are so thankful for them and for the money we've been able to save so that we could finally move out on our own!

So...needless to say...welcome to our new home!

We are very excited about it and loved the whole week off that we had to move in and get situated. We had some friends who really pulled through for us and helped us with the move. We couldn't have done it without them.

We also couldn't have closed on the house without a few terse words to our builder who still didn't have things right at our final walk through. I guess we were the "crazy" ones who thought "final walk through" meant that things should be finally done, especially the night before the closing. Silly us! But through an act of grace, we finally got them to act like any old home builder and finish the house so that we were able to close and move in. (p.s. I'm not exactly recommending DR Horton...if you couldn't tell already).

Our move included a crazy blue paint color that was supposed to be green (thanks to the wonderful lighting at our local Wal-Mart store) and a torrential downpour in the middle of unloading the truck that was just like a hurricane (seriously) and tore shingles off of our neighbors house. Fortunately ours was fine (wouldn't an insurance claim on the house a day after we moved in be too much to handle?).
