Graydon Broke His Arm!

I knew when I married X that this day would finally arrive. X has passed on his extreme activeness and curiosity to our child and I knew it would equal ER visits, casts, stitches, and such. I just didn't think it would happen so soon (or on my watch!).
We were shopping at Target and he was trying to climb out of the shopping cart. I stopped the cart to get him out and let him walk (since the monkey was not going to stay in), but I guess the inertia of the cart stopping was enough for him to topple out (since he already had one leg over).

He broke both bones in his forearm at a 20 degree break. Fortunately, an orthopedic surgeon that X knows well (and that my sister-in-law Kristy works for) was able to slip us right in and took great care of us. X met us at the doctor's, which I'm thankful for since I was a mess. I truly think I cried today more than he did.

He'll get a permanent cast on Friday and will be in it for 3-4 weeks...so Graydon gets to celebrate his birthday with a cast on. Awesome. I guess I'll also need to put off the swimming lessons we were to start in 3 weeks!

He's been so good and really hasn't been sad. He's been totally fine and wants to play like normal. Kids are so resilient...wish I could be more like that.

This is Graydon at home with his "entourage," three blankets, his monkey, and kitty.

I love his chubby little paw sticking out the end of his wrapped arm. What a doll. Give him loves from his Utah cousins!

Oh so sorry to hear that! I hope it's not too miserable for him (or you). He is so stinking cute with his posse! :)

Wow, I can't even imagine having to deal with that, especially in Target! He sure looks well taken care of :)

I'm kind of laughing and crying at this right now. Am I a woman or what? If it makes you feel any better I can't count the number of times my little ones have escaped from the cart. . .including Dallas tipping the entire cart over while Brooklyn and Lexi were inside. That was loud for a long time . .WAAAAAAAAAA! I'm past being too embarrassed anymore but now I'm just glad that we've never sustained any real injuries. He's a doll and now you'll always have a good story.

Oh. My. Gosh.

In Target?! Are you serious?! That's like every mom's worst freakin' nightmare. Ugh. I'm so sorry, Em!!

BTW, Gray is becoming a little boy. A VERY handsome little boy. It's been too long since we've gotten together. I miss you!!

EMILY!!! oh my gosh! its so hard when your little ones get hurt. i have a feeling that no matter how old they get, it will always be difficult as their parent. G is a touch little cookie and i'm glad to hear he is doing well. send him my kisses!

I was so sad when I saw him in nursery with his cast on, but you are so right, he just kept on playing like nothing had happened! I love his army cast : )
