All About Graydon!

Graydon turns 17 months this week. Wow. I'll skip the "time goes by so fast thing" because we all agree on it, right?

X and I refer to this stage in our lives as the Highest of Highs and the Lowest of Lows. He is so cute and gives us kisses and hugs all day. His smiley face and laughter just makes us so happy. He has started to snuggle with me on the couch or in bed (heaven!). He likes to smoosh his face up against mine (in the picture below - I know it's fuzzy but it's the fastest example I found). It melts my heart when he does that. So those are the high times.

But then there are low times...like when he screams this ear-piercing noise because of whatever reason. Or the times when he cries and cries because he doesn't want to be in his dumb carseat. And the whining has started already. Those are the low times.

I now understand why some moms need to "get away" when the dads come home from work. I wish I had more patience...I pray for it everyday...I need it!

But I suppose you need the bad to know the good. The good is still good enough to take the bad with it, though. I guess that's why the world is still growing in population!

He is still very much into his books.

He is really turning into a little man. He is starting to talk a lot more. Here's a list of what he is saying right now (in the order of how much he says it!):

1) No-no
2) Mommy (which he says when he wants me, or anything else in the world! I think to him it means, "Mom, do this -or get this- for me right now! Hurry!")
3) Doggy
4) Puppy
5) Da-Da
6) Yea (his version of yes)
7) Kitty
8) Birdie
9) Ball
10) Car
11) Nana
12) Num-num
13) Eye

One thing he says a lot is nanny...I didn't put it on the list because I can't think of what it means. It's usually when he wants something. So I think it's "slang" for mommy...which, again, means "GIVE IT TO ME," of course!

He loves his Marmite, just like a good Kiwi should!

He adores being outside, especially with a ball. He loves to throw and kick the ball around, and is getting pretty adept. He has learned not to run in the streets fortunately. It took a week of putting in the house kicking and screaming everytime he ran out there...but it worked! It so cute when his ball rolls into the street...9 times out of ten he'll turn to me with a worried look on his face and point as I go get it for him.

Today he was waiting at the front door for me with ball in hand. We went outside and he discovered puddles! He was drenched head to toe, but I couldn't resist letting him splash around. He had so much fun. I wanted a picture of it, but thought it was better to enjoy the moment rather than run inside the house for the camera.

He can run so fast, it's surprising. Most people comment on it...because he prefers running to walking, just like his dad did. He just motors off on his little legs, usually with something in hand. It's so cute.

I can't remember if I've mentioned this before, but he LOVES guys. He's the definition of a guy's guy. He doesn't really give adult women the time of day, but men, especially the 15-35 range, are his target. He'll start cuddling up on a guy's shoulders after 2 minutes. Those of you are have been victim to this can confirm, right?! I think it's cute, but it better wear off by the time he's thirteen!

Look how much his hair has grown! In the last two months it has really grown fast and filled in! I've had to trim a few times around his ears and at the bottom so that he doesn't have a mullet!

He is definitely a blankie and binkie boy. This duo can really calm this guy down. We've tried to break both habits, but they are keepers for now.

He has five teeth on one side and only two on the other! The left side has 3 incisors and 2 molars and the other only has two incisors. My dad (former dentist) said it's pretty rare, but fortunately he doesn't look lopsided.

And that's Graydon in a nutshell. We love this little guy!
