The Cowtown

Last Saturday Graydon and I celebrated two milestones: his nine-month birthday and my first half-marathon! Yay!

I ran the Cowtown Half Marathon (starts and ends in downtown Ft. Worth) with my friend Stephanie Nguyen and I can honestly say I had a blast! Most people probably don't consider running 13.1 miles as fun, but on that day I did. There were just so many people to run with and I found it exhilarating.

I actually was really sad when the full marathoners split from us and ran off. I know, what's wrong with me, right? I am 5 weeks away from my first full marathon (yikes!), and I had the desire to just do it and get it over with.

Anyway, thanks to my family for supporting me and to Stephanie for being such a great running partner!

And a special thanks to my other training partner! He has put in a lot of miles on the road in his jogger. Thank you my darling!

This is the medal. It's a funky shape because it's the first in a five-year series. If you get the five medals then it makes one complete star. How awesome is that? So between X and I, we are determined to make the star!

Congrats on your half marathon! I love that the medal is part of a puzzle, completed only when you have completed all five marathons! What a fun motivator!

Way to go! Maybe I should live vicariously through you. I would love to do a half marathon and eventually a marathon someday, but the problem is that I really don't enjoy running very much. You are awesome though!

Emily! Congrats! Mike and I are in training right now for the Disney half marathon in September. So far, I've just run a lot of 5Ks, but the training schedule picks up in May. Glad you did it! Congrats.

p.s. Graydon is adorable. He and Zach will have to be BYU friends.
