Unlisted

After making some of my friends do this, I figured I should let everyone else know too. I love blogs and am so happy that we have been able to keep in touch through them. But unfortunately, there are some bad people out there who ruin it for everyone else. We need to keep ourselves safe from any lurking, uninvited visitors to our blogs, especially those with little kids.

It makes it really hard for some family and friends to visit blogs if they are password protected, so another precaution is to change your settings to make your blog unlisted in the blogger directory. (Settings, then Basic, then select "no" where it says "add your blog to our listings.") This way the only way someone can find your site is if they already know the URL address, or if they find the link off of a friend's site.

Fortunately my technology and security savvy brother has had my blog unlisted since the day it was created. But I wanted to let all my friends know about this option too. Hopefully it will be enough and we won't have to go to password-protected blogs. I don't want to freak anybody out, but it's just a way to keep us a little bit safer.
